Kentucky Derby Review
There was a point when I was convinced that Big Brown would walk away with the race. It was watching the NBC coverage. The cameras were focused on Big Browns monstrous hind legs. It reminded me of an episode from Sex and the City when Samantha (Kim Cattrall) was describing one of her past lovers as a big cock with a little man attached. Hilarious!
In the case of Big Brown here we had these montrosities for hind legs with a saddle attached. At least that’s what the cameras revealed? Trick photography, I don’t think so?
Triple Crown material here? Most definitely. The road he is taken is the road that I have said needs to be explored. That being the fewer races the better and you’ll see more of this. Just to qualify for the Kentucky Derby requires numerous races for conditioning purposes only. Then you must show well in top races like the Florida Derby to earn enough to qualify. Between all those races horses will obviously expend energy, drop out of their form cycle and have to regroup. Big Brown will have to retain his form for another 4 weeks.
As far as my previous post Big Brown Too Fast Vasili, jockey Kent Desormeaux positioned his horse three and a half lengths from the leader six furlongs into the race and won as most Derby winners do from off the pace. In fact his win mirrors that of Barbaro’s only with the added acceleration from the mile mark to the finish. But Behindatthebar is waiting for Big Brown in Maryland. My suspicion is that Behindatthebar will also be behind at the wire.
